Playa del Carmen is a coastal resort town in Quintana Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Isla Holbox

Holbox is situated to the northwest of Cancun (2 hours), is an island in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. It has a sanctuary to thousands of pink flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and creatures. This is one of the safest beaches for learning how to kiteboard. There are ideal conditions for beginners; shallow waters, no big obstacles on the wide and long beach, many days of wind during the winter months. The best wind you have from November till August..

Isla Blanca, Cancun

Great kiteboarding! Located just 25 minutes north of Cancun on a huge flat shallow saltwater lagoon, at this Island is possible to kite with any direction of wind safely and on smooth water. It´s great on North winds in a flat water lagoon set up. It´s a great spot to learn to kiteboard as the lagoon inlet is practically all waist water deep. Wind strength: 10 knts to 20 knts. Norte winds: 20 to 30 knots. Best season: November, December, January, February, March, April, May.

Tulum

Tulum is one of the prettiest beaches in the Americas and the Mexican Caribbean, with picturesque Mayan ruins overlooking the sand. The beaches around Tulum, offer great kiteboarding conditions and amazing scenary. The beach is one of the most beautiful of the Mayan Riviera. Soft white sand. No rocks, shells or concrete. Cozumel is a Caribbean island just off the Yucatan Peninsula in southeastern Mexico. It has great beaches for kiteboarding, nice people, and safe streets, with prices comparable to other Mexican tourist destinations. Best Months: January, February, March, April, May, December. Wind Type: Thermal Winds, Frontal Winds. Playa Norte is a great spot with waves.

Sisal

Sisal is the best kept secret kite spot in Mexico. A charming fishing village on the northwest coast of the Yucatan Pensinsula, only 40 minutes driving from Merida, characterized by its relaxed atmosphere, stunning natural environment and exotic scenery. Sisal is a perfect place for those who like the contact with nature, tranquility and watchpink flamingos. Kilometers of empty white sand beaches, the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico and windy coastline make for an idyllic kiteboarding destination. Windy season is from November to July. The oceans low depth, the fine white sand and sideshore winds makes it perfect for beginners.

El Cuyo Yucatan

El Cuyo is a small fishermen’s town situated in Yucatan, Mexico. only 2 hours driving from Cancun, Tulum. A truly mexican kitesurfing paradise, with shallow waters, side shore wind, wide and empty beaches, ideal for downwinders and kiteboarders beginners. The wind usually starts at the afternoon. Best direction: N, NE. Wind strength 10 knots to 25 knots.

San Felipe, Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas.

San Felipe, Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas are smalls towns located on the north coast of the state of Yucatán. The ports are primarily fishing villages, but recently have tourist activity. These are great beaches for learning how to kitesurfing in a remote and exotic place, due to its exposure to consistently side-onshore winds, shallow waters, no big obstacles on the wide and long beach, natural beauty and many days of wind during all year. You can do a large downwind from Rio Lagarto to San Felipe.

Progreso

Progreso is a port city in the Mexican State of Yucatan, just 30 minutes north of state capital Mérida (the biggest city on the Yucatán Peninsula) by highway. The water is not very deep, 10 meters deep 4 kilometers out to sea. You can walk out about 100 meters till water gets to your neck. The wind is good almost all year round, except for July and August, which is the lowest wind season. The rest of the year, this is a very reliable spot for kiteboarding. The most reliable months for wind are from February to June.
