Kiteboarding in Punta San Carlos, Baja California

Punta San Carlos is located in Baja California Norte on the Pacific Ocean, near to El Rosario town. About 275 miles south of the border. The next big city is Ensenada or Tijuana. Punta San Carlos is an exposed reef and point break amazing for kiteboarding, windsurfing and surfing. Most of the time is empty. There is no nightlife, only dessert wilderness. Is the perfect place for eco tourism and outdoors sports.

Fly to Tijuana airport and drive to Punta Baja in El Rosario town, drive about 2 hours on a dirt road to arrive to the kiteboarding destination.

During the Summer, it offers the excelent conditions for surfing. Most of the perfect waves here comes from groundswells (medium wave 1-3m). The ideal swell angle comes from the southwest. The surfers prefer the right hand reef break, than the left. Some hazards, rocks, reefs. Level for experts and intermediates.

It blows all year, termal winds can be very strong. Usually sideoffshore winds, near shore can get gusty. Use a shorty during the summer and a wetsuit on winter. It is usually sunny.
