Only a short drive South from Tulum you can get to the biggest areas of the Mayan sites. The ruins of Muyil are located in the vast Sian Ka’aan Biosphere Reserve. Muyil was settle around 300 B.C untill the Spanish arrived. We loved this amazing archeological mayan sites inside the jungle and close to an incredible lagoon. Muyil was situated along a trade route on the Caribbean once accessible via a series of canals. Among the most commonly traded goods were obsidian, Jade,chocolate, feathers, chewing gum, honey,and salt. More info about Sian Ka’an.
