On May 22, 23 and 24 was held the biggest and most important kiteboarding event in Mexico. The ‘Festival del Viento’ (Windfest) took place on the beach of the Riviera Nayarit, in the quiet town of Bucerias.

Within the first day of the festival we were lucky to have excellent wind conditions all day. Competitors from different mexican states and even other countries participated this day in the categories Freestyle Open (1st place Jaime Ancira) and Freestyle Pro (1st place Anthar Racca)

The blue sky of the Riviera Nayarit was full of colors on Saturday 23th, the second day of the Festival del Viento. About 200 kiteboarders sailed the famous Downwinder from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Bucerias.

The first to cross the finish line was Xantos Villegas from La Paz, Baja California. Minutes after finishing the race, the 2nd elimination of the category Freestyle Pro was held in which Anthar Racca from Puerto Morelos reaffirmed his first place in the final against Noe Molk from Holbox. Next was the women’s freestyle category, in which all the female participants showed their excellent kiteboarding level (1st place Raquel Arroyo). The wind did not stop throughout the day. Many spectators joined the event to appreciate this impressive Festival. The day ended with the Slalom category, leaving Adam Finer first.

Sunday, the last day of the Festival del Viento 2015 started with the Big Air category in which participants performed jumps and tricks at high altitude. The hundreds of spectators in the audience were amazed. The traditional award ceremony at sunset was the perfect ending for this unforgettable event. Fortunately the wind conditions of this event were excellent, three days of thermal winds over 20 knots. Furthermore the organizers (AMK) did an excellent job to make the festival a big success.
