The Top 20 mexican kiteboarders from different states such as Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Quintana Roo, Veracruz, Campeche, Yucatan, Puebla, Colima and Nayarit, came together to participate at the national kiteboarding championship called KiteFestBoca 2016. This tournament was held for the second time on the beautiful beaches of Boca del Rio, Veracruz. Participants and spectators had guaranteed lot of action, wind, sun and fun during the 3 days of the tournament (25. – 27. November).

The athletes amazed the public with high jumps and incredible tricks and movements in the air. So far it has been the national tournament that has shown the best level of kiteboarding in the history of the championships endorsed by the AMK (Asociación Mexicana de Kiteboarding).

We are proud to see so much young Mexican talent in the competition. Congratulations to the winners of the different disciplines such as big air and freestyle. Winner of the tournament was the 16 year old Anthar Racca, who, in addition to being number 1 in the national ranking, has been representing Mexico on world tours and is currently world kiteboarding champion in the Junior category for the third consecutive time.

Results:
1st place freestyle – Anthar Racca from Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo. (Yuckite, Airush, Mystic)
2nd place freestyle – Anthony Legare from Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit. (The KiteZone, Ozone)
3rd place freestyle – Noe Molk from Holbox, Quintana Roo. (Yuckite)
1st place Big Air – Noe Molk from Holbox, Quintana Roo. (Yuckite)
2nd place Big Air – Miguel Tamayo from Cozumel Quintana Roo. (Yuckite)
3rd place Big Air – Sian Macondo from Tulum, Quintana Roo. (Sian Kite)
All the competitors had a great time in and out of the water. They  had the opportunity to enjoy several other aquatic and recreational activities, such as paddle board (SUP), surf, volleyball, soccer and hydrofoiling.
The location itself, the beaches of Boca del Rio, Veracruz, were the perfect setting for the KiteFest. The strength and direction of the wind, the wide and long coast, and  the warm climate, makes it a perfect kiteboarding spot. Apart from kiteboarding, this mexican destination has much more to offer and to discover. It is famous for its culture, gastronomy, history and above all its friendly and hospitable people.
It is great to see that the government of Boca del Rio is supporting and promoting the sport of kiteboarding in his municipality and the  State of Veracruz.  It should be mentioned that the KiteFestBoca 2016 tournament could not have been carried out without the participation of the sponsors and the municipality of Boca del Río, as they contributed to the cost of accommodation, air travel, transportation and food for the competitors during the event.

Last but not least a big thanks and shout-out to Miguel Ángel Yunes Márquez, the mayor of Boca del Río, to the organizers of the event, Eduardo Betancourt and José Carlos Jiménez from Verakite, and to Blanca Castellanos Mier and her team from Distrito Boca, for their hard work, excellent attention and incredible hospitality.
